I love building things. I’m primarily an entrepreneurial, experienced software engineer. I’ve worked on projects ranging from small IOT devices to enterprise management applications. I’ve participated in all phases of software development lifecycles from concept / design, initial development / implementation through support and maintenance / enhancement / redesign.

Specialties: Manufacturing control systems, telco billing and analysis, high availability, distributed computing and services, medical and dental administration. Recent experience on both Unix / Linux and Windows.

Non-software professional work includes farming, irrigation and golf course equipment maintenance including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical. Many types of heavy equipment operation.

Hobby work includes car restoration and repair (including ECU, FI, timing), home automation and control for lighting, irrigation and HVAC.

• LVAS (Line Validation Administration System) system development and support. LVAS is the system that is used to change, add and delete records in LIDB (Line Information DataBase) LIDB is a transaction-oriented database system that stores telephone line number and special billing number data.
• Perform software maintenance and upgrades for web services n-tier architecture software. High availability 24 / 7 / 365 support requirement.
• System runs primarily on HP-UX using Oracle databases, web services implemented with C/C++, RogueWave tools, CGI web GUI, Java and several scripting languages (sh, Perl, ksh, csh).

• Pursued a desire to become a small scale farmer. I investigated numerous options, learned farm business management, production / cropping planning through various sources (UCDavis extension, USDA, UCCE Placer).
• Grew a variety of consumer crops (pear & plum trees, vegetables and flowers), raised chickens for egg and meat production.
• Learned that succeeding in an industry where the economy of scale makes an enormous difference is extremely difficult. Found myself drawn back to software development.

Beginning with a DOS based application, we were later the original creator of Practice Works which now runs in thousands of dental offices around the world. Duties included:
